Two items make this question difficult to answer. In general, most students can complete the training in the number of flying days indicated. However,
- The weather plays a big role in all forms of aviation, especially free flight. Paragliders and hang gliders fly in a fairly narrow band of weather. The band is even narrower for people learning. We have done everything we can think of to maximise your time with us (e.g., dedicated training facility with multi-aspect training hills, large ground handling area, use of a winch for low-wind flights, area with multiple sights for high flights, use of speed wings for ground handling in higher wind conditions). There are still some conditions that are simply not flyable. When you plan your trip, we suggest you allow some additional time in Canungra in case you run into these conditions.
- People learn at different rates. Some people take longer to develop the skills need. While there are some minimum experience requirements for license issue, all of our license courses are competency based. We will not sign you off until you are ready.
- For our license courses, if you complete the number of flying days for the course and you still do not have a license, there will generally be an additional charge at a daily rate. There are some exceptions to this rule. If you find yourself in this situation, please discuss with us.
